Self-taught artist Daniel Hooper has wowed the art world with his powerful abstract creations. By making wildlife the subject of his works, Daniel says he’s on a mission to change the public’s perception of the world.

“I watch people rushing around, queuing for coffee and being angry.  Very few of us look up at the sky, or considers the wildlife around us.  Many of us are trapped in the grind and should just take a little time to appreciate the beauty around us. If we just slowed down and took some time, I think we’d be much nicer people.”

Daniel said his working-class background and current ascent in the art world means he has a very diverse set of friends. “I know many people who hate art. But when they tell me my painting made them stop for a few minutes, I’m pleased to have had an impact.”

Winchester’s Canvas Gallery is hosting an exhibition of Daniel’s work 30th November - 3rd December
